Line as Language invites you to step beyond words and explore the power of sketch.
Through something as simple as a line, we can communicate complex emotions, invigorate play, and free ourselves from the limitations of verbal communication. This interactive workshop will introduce you to the foundational theory behind graphic facilitation and visual storytelling while giving you hands-on practice with fun, practical tools you can use right away to:
-
Strengthen your listening and leadership skills
-
Host more meaningful meetings
-
Deepen understanding of complex topics
-
Support courageous and challenging conversations
This workshop will be a powerful reminder that communication is all around us, in ways we may not always recognize, and when harnessed, we can unlock new creativity, clarity & connection.
Our next available date is: 9 am-12 pm, Wednesday, November 5th, in downtown Ottawa
What You’ll Gain
By participating in this 3-hour interactive workshop, you’ll build practical skills and deeper self-awareness. You’ll leave with confidence and techniques you can integrate immediately into your work, including how to:
Drawing Foundations: Learn the essentials of visual note-taking, from drawing letters and shapes to choosing tools and positioning.
Inner Listening: Explore how your own emotions and state of mind shape what you capture. Discover how to listen with intention and draw without bias.
Line as Universal Language: Recognize how simple marks carry meaning. A soft blue curve can evoke comfort, while a jagged red line signals tension. No artistic training required!
Creativity Beyond Perfectionism: Practice playful exercises that help you let go of the need to make drawings “pretty” and embrace imperfection as part of expression.
Humility in Practice: Drawing from practice of humility, reflect on what it means to create live in front of others with sincerity and courage.
Real-Time Application: Develop pacing techniques to support how you capture complex conversations as they unfold
